Follow-up workshop of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) for the Public Sector to enhance Accountability and Transparency

The following workshop was targeted at key M&E and project implementation employees of federal and state government authorities who benefited from the previous year's workshop. The workshop was one of SDGcaps' capacity-building initiatives, and Benadir Innovation supports with its execution.

SDGCap Innovation Course

The SDGCap innovation commenced on August 19th and concluded on October 2nd. A duration of precisely 6 weeks with a total of 15 participants actively engaged in the program. Among them was Abdirisak Mohamed Hassan who said:

“The SDGCap Innovation course transformed my problem-solving approach, teaching me to find opportunities within challenges. It shifted my mindset from job-seeking to generating my innovative ideas. It also influenced my reading and research habits hence innovation requires constant reading and research”. 

Launching Ceremony of Benaadir University Innovation Hub

The primary purpose of the event was to commemorate the inauguration of the BU Innovation Hub and to celebrate this momentous occasion. Distinguished guests were in attendance, hailing from diverse sectors such as the academic community, government officials, civic society, and young individuals.

Visualization and communicating data workshop in Uganda

As part of the capacity-building efforts to strengthen and facilitate visualization and communication of data, a one-day training workshop has been organized in Uganda. The aim of the workshop was to improve the ability of researchers, academics, and communication specialists to visualize and communicate/present data using publicly available tools.

Democratic Republic of Congo launches the first National Forum for Sustainable Development Goals

The first national forum for the Sustainable Development Goals, FNODD (Forum National sur les Objectifs de Développement Durable) has been launched through a two-day conference in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The role of the university in the implementation of SDGs in DRC

On December 6, a one day sensitization meeting was held regarding the role of the university in the implementation of the SDGs in DRC. The Rector of the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) called on a conference with all the UNIKIN Communities (Professors, scientifics, administratives and students) to discuss. The meeting was led by the Minister of Higher Education with participants from the UNDP and Observatoire Congolais du Développement Durable (OCDD).

Launching First Multisectoral Platform of Sustainable Development in Somalia

The Somalia team for the project Building capacity for sustainable development in fragile states (SDGCap) has launched a multisectoral platform for sustainable development. The event that took place mid-December featured a diverse group of fifty participants from the public and private sector, academia, civil society organization and representatives from donor agencies and ambassador’s, ministries and parliamentarians.

Multisectoral local government district workshop in Uganda

A series of multisectoral workshops on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) have been held in Uganda in two local government districts in Uganda: Mayuge and Mukono. The aim of the workshops was to increase the knowledge on the SDGs and enhancing their localization within the district while working across sectors.

Workshop for Somali public sector: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning

The Somali team in SDGCap has conducted a four-day workshop: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) for the Public Sector to enhance Accountability and Transparency. The training workshop targeted key monitoring and evaluation project implementation staff of government officials at federal and state level. The workshop was among the capacity programs of SDGCap, and Benadir University provided support for the workshop implementation.

Discussion on UHC for vulnerable populations in DRC

A workshop on how vulnerable populations can be included in the strategy to achieve Universal Health Care (UHC), was organised in Kinshasa 25–26 November.
