A workshop on how vulnerable populations can be included in the strategy to achieve Universal Health Care (UHC), was organised in Kinshasa 25–26 November.

A workshop to generate new knowledge and innovative solutions and to communicate it to relevant actors, for evidence-based action and policymaking, to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG:s), was organised by the DRC team with the students coordination team of University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN).

One of the key activities of the SDGCap project in Somalia has been a workshop to explore the role of civil society women associations for the attainment of Agenda 2030 in Somalia, with particular emphasis on SDG 5 (Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls).

Under the SDGCap Project, the Kinshasa School of Public health (KSPH), together with the Ministry of Planning (through the Congolese Observatory for Sustainable Development – OCDD), and with the support of the UNDP, organized an awareness workshop and training of 65 civil administrators from the 13 Ministries on SDG implementation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Benadir University hosted a workshop with stakeholder discussions on how Benadir university and other key stakeholders can address the challenge of youth unemployment in Somalia through enabling innovation and entrepreneurship. The participants of the workshop were representing different institutions from academia, civil societies, private and public sector working on youth development through innovation and entrepreneurship.

On the 6th of August 2022, the Building Capacity for Sustainable Health in Fragile States project (SDGCap) study team held an multidisciplinary engagement workshop with 19 student leaders from different colleges at Makerere University. In higher education institutions like Makerere University, student leaders play a key role in advocating and influencing decisions within their institutions.

In June 2022 Benadir University in Somalia, partner in the project Building capacity for sustainable development in fragile states (SDGCap) organized the one day workshop Getting started with the Sustainable Development Goals in universities.

Prof. Hassan Nor, and Eng. Rage Adem, the Somalia SDGCap PLT members, and Prof. Mohamed Fuje, Board Member, were invited to the event of submitting the Somali Voluntary National Review Report (VNR) to the UN during the High-Level Political Forum in New York. The Somali PLT members have contributed to the writing of the report.

Beginning of May 2022, the whole project lead team of SDGCap went to Kampala, Uganda for workshops and meetings. During 3 days packed with activities, the team had the chance to meet in person and continue develop the project. The Governing Board of SDGCap also met physically for the first time.

Reception at the Swedish Embassy

The Somali, Ugandan and Swedish team met at a reception at the Swedish embassy.

On 31st of March 2022, a dissemination workshop on linkages in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) project was organized. The purpose was to share key results from the SDG Synergies Workshop held in October 2021 and to trigger discussions on participants’ perceptions of the results from that workshop.
