High participation at Global Conversation on climate change and health
At the Global Conversation webinar on the 5th of September 2023, experts in the field discussed the pressing issue of climate change and its impact on health, specifically focusing on extreme weather events such as flooding.
The panel, moderated by Charles Batte, doctoral student and member of the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Health's working group, addressed the current state and actionable steps toward sustainable health solutions. “Climate change shows clear effects on the health and well-being of people. We see adverse impact for instance through the spread of infectious diseases, mental health disorders and of course displacement due to climate change,” says Daniel Helldén, PHD student and co-lead on the centre’s research on climate and health, during the introductory presentation on the situation of climate change globally. In the discussion that followed, the panelists talked about mitigation strategies and successful projects globally that have effectively integrated climate change efforts. The webinar had a high participation with 230 participants from 30 different countries. Watch the full webinar below. Registration is open for the for next Global Conversations on Sustainable Health.
