Who shapes the future of health in the age of artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping health systems around the world. From outbreak detection and disease surveillance to clinical decision-making and health system management, these technologies hold significant promise to strengthen global health, improve efficiency, and expand access to care.

Yet as AI becomes increasingly embedded in public health infrastructure, critical questions emerge. Who owns the data that power these systems? Who designs and controls the algorithms? And how can we ensure that AI contributes to more equitable and sustainable health systems rather than reinforcing existing inequalities?

The next Global Conversation webinar invites participants to explore the opportunities and challenges of AI in global health through the lens of equity, partnership, and power. Together we will reflect on how AI can be developed and governed in ways that support fair, inclusive, and mutually beneficial global health collaborations.

Key questions we will explore:

  • AI for health-but for whom?
Who benefits from AI-driven health innovations, and whose needs risk being overlooked?
  • AI and health equity
Is it possible to design and implement AI systems that actively promote fairness and reduce health disparities?
  • Data ownership, power, and influence
How do questions of data governance, algorithm design, and technological control shape global health partnerships?
  • Building sustainable and equitable AI futures
What principles and partnerships are needed to ensure that AI supports sustainable health systems worldwide?
