Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Health

 A collaboration between Makerere University in Uganda and Karolinska Institutet in Sweden


  • Sustainable health is a multisectoral area for study, research
    and practice towards improving health and well-being for all,
    while staying within planetary boundaries.

    The Centre aims to develop capacity and mobilise actions
    to drive the agenda for sustainable health. We provide tools,
    resources and training programs for researchers, students,
    professionals and policy makers globally.

Key areas

Tools & resources

Our tools for action include hands-on methods, tips and practical guidance for individuals and organisations to accelerate action towards achieving sustainable health.

Capacity development & education

Our programs aim to strengthen capacity, contribute to innovation in the public sector and promote sustainable health initiatives according to the Agenda 2030.

Research

We conduct research within areas relevant to sustainable health: sexual and reproductive health and rights, children's health, non-communicable diseases, climate change and health​.

Networks & partnerships

We partner with several academic institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa and with Tinkr, a social innovation company, in order to conduct international and multisectoral projects together.

Webinars

We arrange Global conversations on Sustainable Health and other events to exchange creative solutions and increase engagement towards achieving sustainable health.
